UPTEC has opened applications for the new edition of the School of Startups, a fully free programme aimed at aspiring entrepreneurs with business ideas in the fields of arts, science, technology, health and cleantech who want to create a startup. Applications are open until 20 September.
Throughout the programme, participants will follow a journey focused on developing and validating their ideas, with sessions covering key topics for the early stages of any entrepreneurial project. Business model validation, pitching, go-to-market strategy, differentiation and marketing will be among the main topics addressed.
Supported by the Fundação Santander Portugal, the programme also includes case studies and talks with founders, giving participants the opportunity to engage with different experiences of creating and developing startups and to learn first-hand about some of the challenges involved in the entrepreneurial journey.
The 14th edition of the School of Startups will conclude on 27 January with Pitch Day, an event exclusively dedicated to the presentation of participants’ business ideas to an audience that will include members of Porto’s entrepreneurial community.
Over 13 editions, UPTEC’s acceleration programme has supported around 540 entrepreneurs and more than 240 business ideas, resulting in the creation of more than 80 companies. Startups that have taken part in the School of Startups — including Smartex, Addvolt, Adapttech, Wisecrop and Summary, among others — have raised more than €65 million in investment.
Applications for the School of Startups, supported by the Santander Portugal Foundation, are open until 20 September and can be submitted here.
