The European Patent Office (EPO) has expanded access to technology intelligence through its Technology Intelligence Platform (TIP), a browser-based environment for processing, analysing and visualising patent data.
TIP provides free access to EPO PATSTAT, one of the world’s most comprehensive patent databases, allowing businesses, researchers and innovators to combine patent information with company data and other statistics.
The platform can support the identification of technology trends, competitor analysis, patent mapping and the detection of business and investment opportunities, helping users make more informed decisions.
TIP currently provides more than 100 Python notebooks, including new resources covering patent families, filing strategies, legal events, citation dynamics and technology trends. Its Jupyter environment also allows users to develop tailored and reproducible analyses.
The initiative is part of the EPO’s strategy to make patent intelligence more accessible and support innovation, investment and competitiveness.
