Vista Alegre is one of Portugal’s most iconic brands of porcelain and tableware and homeware. Its history began in 1824, when it was founded in Ílhavo by José Ferreira Pinto Basto. Renowned for combining craftsmanship, innovation and design, the company develops and produces porcelain, crystal and glass, with a strong focus on creating collections in collaboration with national and international designers and artists. With a well-established international presence, Vista Alegre exports to several markets. In 2025, the value of these exports exceeded 100 million euros.
Vista Alegre has more than two centuries of experience, yet it retains a strong capacity to evolve. It combines craftsmanship techniques, such as painting and sculpture, with technology, new production processes and a contemporary approach to design. Nuno Barra, the company’s Vice-President, believes that it is this ability to bring together accumulated knowledge and creative freedom that enables the brand to evolve without losing what makes Vista Alegre relevant to new generations and different markets.
