Greece and Japan are deepening their economic partnership, with bilateral ties strengthening over the past three years alongside the broader EU–Japan relationship.
Around 40 Japanese companies, including NTT, are already present in Greece, while Greek exports to Japan increased by 42% last year and a further 24.5% so far this year, contributing to a Greek trade surplus with Japan.
Beyond trade, the two countries have opportunities to expand cooperation in renewable energy, advanced industrial technologies, robotics, digital and IT services, and maritime technologies. The latter builds on longstanding links between Greek shipping and Japanese shipyards and industrial suppliers.
Japan is also an important economic partner for Greece and the European Union, creating opportunities for Greece to strengthen its engagement with the Indo-Pacific through investment, technology and business cooperation.
