Critical Software was founded in Portugal, but it found its place abroad from an early stage. Today, around 90 per cent of the company’s business (and 95 per cent at group level) takes place beyond Portugal’s borders. This has been the case since day one, as a strategic choice. Critical Software develops technologies and solutions for systems that cannot afford to fail and is now positioning itself as a global reference in the development of critical systems with artificial intelligence.
Critical Software did not follow the usual path of first growing in its home market and then expanding internationally. Its history, now approaching three decades, has, from the outset, been marked by projects and solutions that have crossed borders, spanning areas ranging from aerospace, automotive, and rail to medical systems. Ultimately, these are technologies for critical systems: for aircraft that cannot fall, hospitals where an error can cost a life, and energy networks that cannot be allowed to collapse.
