The University of Coimbra (UC) and Feedzai, one of Portugal’s few unicorn startups, strengthened their longstanding partnership on Monday, 4 May, extending it to the Startup Capital Summit — a leading national event with growing international reach in deep tech, venture capital, innovation, entrepreneurship and technology transfer — which returns to Coimbra on 3 June.
Startup Capital Summit 2026 (SCS’26), an event that strengthens Coimbra’s position as a Startup Region, will receive financial support from Feedzai and 14 other companies: Santander, Empowered Startups, Rodda, GALP, Accenture, Loop OS, Critical Software, Active Space, Altice Labs, Incentea, Bluepharma, Civilria, Deloitte and URUBU. Together, these partners reinforce the scale and relevance of the event, which aims to have a strong impact on Portugal’s entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem.
The new partnership was celebrated by UC Vice-Rector for Culture, Communication and Open Science Delfim Leão, representing Rector Amílcar Falcão, and by Feedzai's CTO and co-founder Paulo Marques. Feedzai emerged from the UC ecosystem through research in data science and machine learning focused on financial fraud detection.
