The annual ranking highlights cities that offer an outstanding urban experience, assessing factors such as safety, mobility, governance, public spaces, culture, retail, gastronomy and overall liveability.
According to Monocle, Lisbon stands out for its distinctive identity, vibrant street life, high-quality public realm and ability to attract both residents and international talent. The magazine also praises the Portuguese capital’s climate, food scene, outdoor lifestyle and strong sense of community, reinforcing its position as one of the world’s most liveable cities in 2026.
