Portugal: Industrial production returns to growth in May - Industrial production increased 0.9% on a month-on-month basis in May.

Latest reading: Industrial production increased 0.9% on a calendar and seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis in May, following a 2.7% fall in the previous month.

Relative to the previous month’s figures, readings in May improved for manufacturing (-0.3% on a calendar and seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis vs -0.9% in April), electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (+7.7% vs -12.6% in April) and mining and quarrying (+5.2% vs -3.5% in April).

On a calendar- and seasonally adjusted year-on-year basis, industrial production declined 2.3% in May, following a flat reading in the prior month.
