HORSE Aveiro has a history spanning more than four decades of industrial tradition and is now one of the leading centres of expertise within HORSE Powertrain, a joint venture between the Renault Group and Geely, with participation from Aramco. The company manufactures transmissions, mechanical components and electrified products, and was the first plant within the group to industrialise components for hybrid powertrains, such as the Power Electronics Box (PEB), the unit responsible for managing the hybrid system’s electrical energy, and the electric motor.
HORSE Aveiro occupies a central position in HORSE Powertrain’s strategy as a centre of excellence for gears, hybrid motors and electric motors. The company has introduced new suppliers, partners and customers to the group and, in 2025, increased its turnover by 23 per cent, reaching 562 million euros.
With more than 1,500 employees, HORSE Aveiro is integrated into some of the automotive industry's leading global supply chains and exports its entire production. José Ribafeita, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of HORSE Aveiro, recalls that the Aveiro plant was the first within the group to industrialise components for hybrid powertrains, including the Power Electronics Box (PEB), which is responsible for managing the hybrid system’s electrical energy, and the electric motor.
