Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport recorded a historic 16.9 million passengers in 2025, representing a 6.3% increase compared to the previous year, according to ANA Aeroportos de Portugal.
The milestone comes as the airport celebrates its 80th anniversary, further consolidating its role as a key gateway for Porto and the wider region.
A central driver of this growth has been the expansion of transatlantic connectivity, with routes to the United States, Brazil and Addis Ababa. This momentum will continue into 2026, supported by the launch of 21 new routes this summer, including six intercontinental destinations.
Among the highlights are the start of operations by Delta Air Lines, introducing a direct connection between Porto and New York (JFK), as well as new and expanded links to Cabo Verde, Morocco and key European cities. Connectivity to the Middle East will also be strengthened, with increased frequencies by Turkish Airlines and El Al.
