A new sports footwear factory will begin operations later this year in Barcelos. The investment is led by the French company Advanced Shoe Factory (ASF 4.0). The project could create nearly 600 jobs in the region.
The factory is under construction in the parish of Silveiros. In the initial phase, it is set to start operations in July with two production lines. This phase will generate around 210 jobs and provide an initial annual capacity of 500,000 pairs of shoes.
The project, however, envisages a gradual expansion over the coming years. By 2030, the facility is expected to reach an annual production of 1.5 million pairs and employ up to 580 workers, establishing itself as one of the major recent investments in the sector in Portugal.
