Engimov Caribe SA will be the first Portuguese company to have a location in the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM) to contribute to the economic development that Cuba is seeking to achieve in the construction sector, highlights the Cuban News Agency.
Miguel Almeida, vice president of the firm, said that the company is among the last five that have permission to operate in the area and that they intend “for the Cuban project to be the first in Latin America, and to make this country the “headquarters.”
He also said that the firm will now provide construction and engineering services, and that they plan to extend their services to other areas of the country in the future.
