Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro on Tuesday announced that his government has a 500 million Euros line of credit (582 million US dollars at the current exchange rate) available to encourage companies to invest in Mozambique.
According to the Prime Minister, who was speaking alongside Mozambican President Daniel Chapo at the closing of the VI Portugal-Mozambique summit, held at the Palácio da Bolsa in northern Portuguese city of Porto, the amount “is a sign of confidence in the Mozambican economy and Portuguese companies are ready to continue investing.”
“This credit line is intended for various areas. We believe in Mozambique’s economic ambition”, he said.
During the Bilateral Summit, Portugal and Mozambique signed 22 legal instruments and agreed to place the economy and sustainable development “at the top of the agenda.”
