The International Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (IRCAI), under the auspices of UNESCO, operates independently within the Slovenian leading research institute, the Jožef Stefan Institute, and follows the guidelines of the UN and UNESCO. It monitors trends in the field of artificial intelligence with two priorities: a) artificial intelligence and sustainable development, and b) artificial intelligence and ethics.
In 2023, IRCAI established a tech partnership/accelerator for AI and climate change with Amazon. Selection through this call or the technological/R&D partnership will allow startups in the field of climate technologies to use advanced cloud computing and artificial intelligence in the fight against climate change. Amazon will finance the development of revolutionary solutions for proof of concept in the field of climate, while IRCAI, together with Amazon, will provide technical and scientific advice.
Local/regional companies in the field of climate will receive special attention, with additional preference given to projects involving indigenous communities or their projects.
