Collaboration between startups and insurers opens up new opportunities for the future of the sector.
On October 7, the School of Economics and Management of the University of Porto (FEP) hosted the session ‘Wininsurance: Startups and Insurers in a Win-Win Relationship’, organized by the Portuguese Insurers Association as part of World Investor Week 2024.
This event attracted the attention of students, entrepreneurs, and professionals from the sector, bringing together leaders from the insurance ecosystem and the startup world to discuss collaboration between the two.
The session, which began at 4.30 pm in Auditorium 631, provided a unique opportunity to explore how insurers are supporting startups with innovative solutions aimed at improving quality of life, promoting sustainability and increasing security and resilience in Portugal. With an agenda full of relevant interventions, the event featured João Cardoso, CEO of Lovys, as keynote speaker, who shared his vision of the future of the sector.
Two startup acceleration programs promoted by insurance companies were also presented, demonstrating the strategic impact of these partnerships in transforming the sector. The panel discussion included the participation of Maria Moura Oliveira, Executive Director of UPTEC, who highlighted the work done to support startups and the potential synergies between innovation and security.
With an atmosphere of exchanging ideas and experiences, the ‘Wininsurance’ session reinforced the opportunities for cooperation between startups and insurers, pointing to new solutions and challenges currently facing the sector. This event was an important milestone in promoting innovation and developing fruitful relations between the business and academic worlds.
