ADECI, a start-up incubated at UPTEC (Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto), has been recognised as one of Portugal’s most promising startups by EU-Startups, which recently highlighted 10 innovative Portuguese ventures.
Founded in 2023 by Telmo Taipa and Helder Pereira, ADECI has developed an AI-based forecasting platform tailored for the restaurant sector. The solution analyses historical operational data alongside external variables that influence daily activity to forecast sales, customer flows, product demand, ingredient consumption and staffing needs. By improving demand forecasting, ADECI enables businesses to reduce costs, minimise food waste and make more informed operational decisions.
The company has also been gaining traction beyond Portugal. In 2025, ADECI secured €500,000 in funding from Portugal Ventures and expanded its presence into the Spanish market. Looking ahead, the startup plans to broaden its technology into additional sectors such as retail and supply chain management, while targeting 25,000 establishments across European markets.
