Topsoe, a leading global provider of advanced technology and solutions for the energy transition, has received a grant of EUR 38 million from the Portuguese Government for a first-of-its-kind battery materials manufacturing facility.
The facility, which is pending a final investment decision, will be located in Sines, Portugal. It will produce LNMO cathode active materials (CAM) used in rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, specifically for electric vehicles and energy storage, and will help to strengthen European energy resilience.
Roeland Baan, President and CEO of Topsoe, said:
"We are delighted to receive this grant from the Portuguese Government for our next-generation LNMO CAM technology. We chose Portugal as the location for our plant due to the availability of cost-competitive renewable energy and the State’s willingness to attract companies like ours that are ready to scale advanced clean technologies. We would like to thank AICEP for their support to date and look forward to continuing our collaboration."
