The Prime Minister visited on Friday the shelter for people who lost their roof in Santarém, where he assured them, the Government has allocated all the resources to respond to the floods due to storms Kristin and Leonardo, placing safeguarding human life as the utmost priority.
"At this moment, all of the Civil Protection teams are mobilised for permanent follow-up in combination with the security and law enforcement agencies, the Armed Forces, and local municipalities to engage in the evacuation operations deemed necessary", he claimed.
Acknowledging the hefty losses caused by the bad weather, Luís Montenegro stressed that "this storm brough many material and economic losses and the Government must respond to that. We have been communicating this response, but prior to that, we have people’s lives and that is the most decisive element".
