Mota-Engil has already signed the concession contract for the construction of the immersed tunnel in Brazil, which will connect the cities of Santos and Guarujá, in São Paulo, and whose concession it won in September last year. With this project, the Portuguese construction group adds another €1.2 billion to its order book, bringing the value of its portfolio in Brazil to €2.2 billion.
“Mota-Engil announces that, through its subsidiary Mota-Engil Latam Portugal, it has signed the concession contract for the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project for the construction, operation and maintenance of the Santos-Guarajá submerged tunnel, in the State of São Paulo, Brazil, with an investment amounting to approximately R$7.8 billion, equivalent to €1.2 billion”, the Portuguese company said in a statement sent on Thursday to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM).
“The five-year construction contract will add approximately €1.2 billion to Mota-Engil’s order book and includes the construction of a tunnel with three lanes in each direction, with a light rail line, an area dedicated to cycle paths and pedestrians, as well as a traffic lane that will reduce the crossing time from around one hour to five minutes”, explains the company.
