The ability to transform scientific knowledge into economic and social value has become one of the main factors of competitiveness. In Portugal, INESC TEC has established itself as one of the central agents of this transformation, acting as a structured bridge between scientific research, industry and global markets, in areas ranging from artificial intelligence and robotics to energy, photonics, bioengineering and marine sciences.

For the President of INESC TEC, the diversity of the scientific areas in which the institute invests is not merely an academic characteristic, but a necessary condition to address increasingly complex challenges. “The diversity of areas of knowledge is fundamental to addressing increasingly complex and multidisciplinary challenges,” says João Claro, adding that “without a constant commitment to the creation of new scientific and technological knowledge, it is not possible to contribute to the competitiveness of the economy and society”.
