The Portuguese economy recorded a quarter-on-quarter growth of 0.8%, a performance above that of previous quarters and stronger than expected by most analysts.
This evolution reflects a greater dynamism of domestic demand and represents the highest quarterly growth since the beginning of 2023, excluding the last quarter of 2024.
This growth of the Portuguese economy in the third quarter is therefore the highest recorded among the Euro Area countries that released flash estimates today.
In year-on-year terms, the national economy recorded growth of 2.4%, representing an acceleration compared with the first half of the year. After the adverse effects of international uncertainty, trade tensions and geopolitical shocks, the Portuguese economy continues to demonstrate high resilience.
This performance reinforces confidence in the national economy and the Government's belief that it is possible to achieve 2% growth this year, as projected in the proposed State Budget for 2026.
