As part of the European Sea4market project, the biotechnology spin-off from Nova Medical School, Sea4us, joined the GoParity crowdlending platform (a form of crowdfunding where money is lent in exchange for interest payments). This is the "largest funding campaign" for the company, to realise the project that aims to help with the treatment of chronic pain.
The aim is to transform the chemical compounds found in marine organisms into pharmaceutical ingredients for innovative treatments. This "pioneering analgesic" aims to replace opiates in the treatment of chronic pain and thus reduce the side effects of their use. Investors in the campaign are paying advance grants already awarded to Sea4us to ensure that clinical trials begin in 2026.
