The Zumtobel Group, based in Austria, is a driving force in the development of professional lighting solutions. Employing 5,300 people and generating revenue of EUR 1 billion, the company is strengthening its commitment to Portugal by expanding its intelligent lighting centre for smart lighting systems.
The Portuguese subsidiary Tridonic Portugal expanded its premises in Vila Nova de Gaia on 25th November. The expanded space now covers 1,500 sqm and offers space for a total of 120 modern workstations.
Tridonic Portugal develops innovative lighting management systems and has already registered nine patents. These technologies enable luminaires to achieve exceptional levels of energy efficiency, connectivity and sustainability.
The innovative work conducted by Tridonic Portugal has received support from the Portuguese Trade & Investment Agency (AICEP), which co-funded the Lite4more project. This initiative focused on advancing fundamental research and development in the field of intelligent lighting. Representing a multi-million Euro investment by Tridonic, significantly supporting the landscape of research and technological development in Portugal.
A growing team
Since its establishment in 2019, Tridonic Portugal has grown to a team of 95 employees, with plans to expand to 120 in the near future.
“Driving innovation in intelligent lighting management, advanced sensors, predictive maintenance, energy efficiency, interoperability, and data security has been our core mission,” says João Granjo Lopes, Managing Director of Tridonic Portugal. “With this expansion, we now have the full capability to develop end-to-end solutions and further advance the technology of the Zumtobel Group and the boundaries of smart lighting.”
