From 8 to 13 April, the Brera design district in Milan will host an outstanding exhibition of Portuguese creativity at Spazio Bruno Bordese (Via Pietro Maroncelli 2), focusing on contemporary design, craftsmanship and sustainability. Organised by Associative Design, a brand of the Portuguese Association of Wood and Furniture Industries (AIMMP), the exhibition marks its return to Milan Design Week with a renewed focus on innovation and artistic vision.
As one of the most vibrant and influential districts during Milan Design Week, Brera provides the perfect platform for Associative Design’s curated selection of furniture and decorative objects, reflecting Portugal’s unique vision of modern design. The showcase presents a curated selection of Portuguese furniture and decorative objects, offering an immersive experience where tradition meets contemporary aesthetics.
Highlights include the work of textile artist Vanessa Barragão, whose intricate handmade tapestries explore sustainable practices and organic forms. Designer Carlos Mello introduces a bold new direction with a solo collection that redefines the boundary between functionality and art. Multidisciplinary designer Hugo Vaz unveils a range for Nuoh that combines digital precision with artisanal techniques.
Design house Malabar presents the Circulus Dining Table, a sculptural piece in frosted bronze glass and marble, while emerging designer Luis Leão presents works that combine conceptual storytelling with playful forms.
Several Portuguese studios are also in the spotlight. Hatt presents a collection that combines handcrafted precision with technological innovation.
A VIP cocktail reception will open the exhibition on 8 April at 17:00, with signature port wine cocktails and traditional Portuguese finger food. The event aims to foster connections between an international audience and the creative force that drives Portuguese design.
