August 22, 2024, marks a significant milestone: the first stone of the Portugal Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka has been officially laid.
Spanning over 1,800 square meters and located in the 'Empowering Lives' zone of the Expo site, the pavilion is designed with a strong focus on sustainability and the circular economy. It adheres to the highest technical and environmental standards to minimize Portugal's carbon footprint during the event.
Designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, the Portugal Pavilion invites visitors to explore and immerse themselves in the ocean, symbolically bringing a piece of it to Expo 2025 Osaka. The pavilion captures the essence of oceanic movement, breaking it down into its most captivating elements. Under the theme "Ocean, The Blue Dialogue," Portugal's participation highlights its profound historical, cultural, and economic ties to the ocean, advancing commitments to SDG 14 and 7 through innovative projects and strategic partnerships.
It is anticipated that around 1.4 million visitors will be welcomed throughout the six-month exhibition, with 90% of them expected to be from Japan. This presence reinforces Portugal's position at the forefront of the sustainable blue economy, offering incentives and opening doors for global investors. Portugal's participation will strengthen trade and investment ties with other nations, paving the way for Portuguese companies to build robust relationships with Japanese partners and establish new ventures across various sectors.Follow the Portuguese Pavilion on social media and keep up to date with all the news:
