The 2021 edition of the index, released today, lists a limited group of 380 companies operating in 11 industries and headquartered in 44 countries. In the list of member companies, Jerónimo Martins is the only Portuguese company from its business sector, which is only represented by 25 companies from across the globe.
For Susana Correia de Campos, Head of Corporate Employee Relations of the Jerónimo Martins Group, “our debut in this prestigious index is another milestone and a positive nod for the work we have done to promote gender equality that we are very pleased to acknowledge and that we face with great responsibility. We are an international Group that employees over 115,000 people in three countries and that is proud to say it has 67% of women in management positions”.
The Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index’s methodology includes two weighting factors: 30% for “disclosure” and 70% for “data excellence”. For these two factors, the Group obtained an overall score of 65%, mainly as a result of its 98% for the “disclosure” component, and 80% for “equal pay & gender pay parity” and its “sexual harassment policies”, two of the five dimensions assessed under the “data excellence” component. The index assesses over 100 indicators in total.
The Jerónimo Martins Group employs more than 115,000 people in the three countries where it pursues its business: Portugal, Poland and Colombia. In all, women represent 76% of the workforce and 67% of management positions.
