Chilli Flames, a barbecue-style restaurant, has installed signage over a vacant shop in Bedford Place.
When opened the restaurant will serve flame-grilled meat, salad, loaded fries, wraps, hot chilli burgers, and more.
The eatery takes pride in serving authentic food with rustic flavours deeply rooted in the cuisine of the Portuguese city of Porto.
The brand originated on the peaceful shores of Mozambique.
It says that it cooks the highest quality chicken using a secret blend of flavours.
The shop currently has 17 stores across the UK, including in Derby, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Cardiff and Bolton.
The restaurant is still expanding, with more stores to launch in Reading, Newcastle, Lincoln, Harrow, and more.
If plans are approved, the Southampton store will be located at 7 Bedford Place, next to Halladay's Tearooms.
