Amir and Ana Ramos will be opening Café De Lisboa in the former Piranha Comics site in The Parade on September 23 at 9am.
It will offer coffee, baked goods and cakes, desserts, sandwiches, bifanas, pregos, and a speciality in its pastel de nata — which is a Portuguese favourite.
Ahead of opening at the end of next week, the couple are just putting the finishing touches to the store.
Lifelong Watford resident Amir said: “Ana was raised in Portugal and wants to bring premium pastel de natas and Portuguese cakes to the community.”
“We’ve had loads of people walking in thinking we had already opened,” he added,
“People from Portugal and people who have visited Portugal have been coming in saying ‘we love it’.
“We should have everything set up by Saturday, then we have a week to get the final touches.”
Ana had run a café with her family in Portugal before she moved to Watford three years ago.
