Portuguese wines and wine tourism are now 'a click away', thanks to a new website launched by Turismo de Portugal, aimed mainly at foreign tourists.

“The work we are doing in wine tourism is not only about improving the offer” and “the training of people, but also about international promotion. And this 'site' is a tool” for that purpose, highlighted the Minister of Economy, Pedro Siza Vieira.

 

At the 5th World Tourism Organization conference on wine tourism, in Monsaraz, in the municipality of Reguengos de Monsaraz (Évora), the government official announced the launch of this 'website', which can be consulted at www.portuguesewinetourism.com.

 

The website “introduces international visitors to not only what our wines are, but also our wine-related tourist destinations”, said the minister, speaking to journalists,Siza Vieira also stated that he hopes that this new feature “is as successful” as the “Wine Pairs with Portugal” campaign, which “reached eight million contacts in just two months”.

 

Questioned by journalists on this same subject, the president of Turismo de Portugal, Luís Araújo, argued that the page “want to be more than a simple showcase” of “what can be done in wine tourism in Portugal”.

 

“We are not just talking about the characteristics of the regions, that is also there, but there is more to it. It is the public sector” and “the private sector together, the wine tourism routes, the programs and experiences that can be done in each region”, he pointed out.

 

And, according to the same person in charge, the 'site' even has "an area with the best recommendations from winemakers in each region and the secret recommendations".

 

“It intends to draw attention, but mainly to encourage those who have never thought about wine tourism or those who have never thought about wine related to Portugal”, to “think differently and closely associated with the tourism component”, explained Luís Araújo.
