Spain stands out as the leading export destination with a 19.8 per cent share of the total, followed by France (12.8 per cent) and Germany (11 per cent). The United Kingdom, with a 9.2 per cent share, was the main customer outside the European Union and fourth overall, followed by the United States of America (7.1 per cent).
Exports to France saw the biggest growth, of 8.4 per cent, equivalent to 842 million euros, followed by Germany, with an increase of 801 million euros, and the United Kingdom, with 768 million euros.
Travel and Tourism was the main export, with a 20.5 per cent share of the total, followed by Machinery and Equipment (9.3 per cent) and Vehicles and Other Transport Equipment (8.2 per cent). Travel and Tourism also stands out with an increase of 20.9 per cent compared to last year's period, translating into 3,004 million euros.
In the same period, imports totalled 81.843 billion euros, a year-on-year change of -0.3 per cent.
In August 2023, there was a nominal rate of change of 1.1 per cent in exports of goods and services, with an increase in the surplus in the trade balance of goods and services of 1,560 million euros. This represents an increase in the surplus of 1,361 million euros compared to August 2022 and 483 million euros compared to the previous month.
