Munich-based enterprise cloud provider Retarus continues its impressive growth trajectory with the opening of a new development center in Lisbon. Retarus’ newly founded Portuguese subsidiary will hire 15 new employees by the end of this year with plans of further growth in the future.

The new team will reinforce the software developers at the head office in Munich as well as in Timişoara, Romania. Initially, they will be working on new features for the Retarus Secure Email Platform.

Retarus is officially opening their new subsidiary in June 2021, bearing testimony to the company’s excellent commercial development despite the pandemic as well as meeting the growing demand across companies as they digitize, automate, and cloudify their communication and business processes. The first employees are set to start working at the newly founded Retarus Portugal Unip Lda. in the beginning of June, with an end of the year growth plan to staff up to 15 developers.

Portugal’s tech industry is currently growing twice as fast as any other tech hub in Europe. The country’s modern education system is among the best in Europe at university level and trains tech talents at the very highest level,” says Martin Hager, CEO and founder of Retarus. “As an important IT hub, Lisbon also attracts a large number of foreign investors and highly qualified, international professionals. For us, this is a perfect environment to increase our capacity for software development even further and to find exactly the right talents to achieve this goal.”

It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome Retarus' decision to establish a new software development center in Portugal. This is yet another example of how our country is becoming a preferred destination for IT activities, and an important contribution to Portugal's positioning as a European tech hub, based on a broad spectrum of highly specialized talent that is part of a dynamic, multilingual, and cosmopolitan ecosystem”, adds Luís Castro Henriques, President of Portugal's state agency for investment and foreign trade, AICEP.

Retarus Portugal Unip Lda. becomes Retarus’ 16th branch office and 12th international subsidiary along with Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain, Romania, the UK, Singapore, Thailand, Australia, and the USA.
