China is to launch a Portuguese satellite into space, scheduled to go up in 2021, as part of a bilateral partnership known as the STARlab programme.

In comments to Lusa News Agency Ricardo Mendes, CEO of Portuguese aerospace company Tekever, said that China's involvement in the project to launch the ‘Infante’ satellite, constitutes its launch and the development of some sensors to be used in it”.


He stressed the design and manufacture of the Earth observation satellite itself is "totally Portuguese.
