Two EDGE events, one in Porto in September and the other forthcoming in London, show how Portugal and the U.K. both target innovation, competitiveness and strategic partnerships to drive their economic agenda

Most of the focus on the political, diplomatic, economic and commercial relationship between Portugal and the UK is currently seen through the prism of Brexit, whether it be "hard", "soft" or an undignified crash with no deal. However, in our event in Porto on 26th September at The Yeatman Hotel, we sought to bring some focus back to the positives on what the UK has to offer and on the synergies between Portugal and the UK. Presentations by Ross Matthews, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy, Porto City Councillor RicardoValente (also the head of the Invest Porto programme) and Vasco Varela, CEO of the World of Wine the latest project of the Fladgate Partnership (Taylors, Croft, Fonseca, Krohn), were complemented by a presentation by Geoffrey Graham and Isabel Ferreira of EDGE in bringing this message into sharp focus.
