EDP Renováveis won a long-term contract, "at the Italian wind energy auction, for the sale of wind energy produced by two farms with total capacity of 54 MW," announced the company.

EDP Renováveis won a 20-year contract at the Italian wind energy auction, the company announced this Thursday in a statement sent to the Securities Market Commission (CMVM). The operations of the projects in question are said to begin next year. With these new contracts, EDP Renováveis has already secured “1.3 GW of projects to be installed in Europe under the 2019-2022 Business Plan.”

 

“EDP Renováveis was awarded 20-year Contract-for-Difference (CfD) at the Italian wind auction to sell electricity to be produced by 2 wind farms with a total capacity of 54 MW,” reads the note released by the CMVM, which states that Portuguese companies won 10% of the total capacity of the auction.

 

“Wind energy is an essential part of the global energy transition, allowing market’s rapid growth and increase competitiveness.

 

As of today, EDPR has secured 84% of the 7.0 GW targeted wind and solar global capacity build-out for the 2019-2022 period, as communicated in the Strategic Update on March 2019,” adds the company, which says it “will continue to develop worldwide profitable projects.”
