CABEÇALHO

Sometimes perfection comes in the simplest of forms, and that's certainly true when it comes to the Portuguese delicacy: pastel de nata. Also known as a Portuguese custard tart, these little beauties are flaky, sweet pastry cases filled with oozy egg custard.

Their soft-on-the-inside but crispy-out-the-outside appeal has led to a sharp rise in popularity; so much so that Covent Garden is getting two brand new pastelarias. Fling your arms wide open and welcome Santa Nata. We'll be celebrating by stuffing our faces with as many pastéis as we can get our hands on, naturally.
