The minister, who was speaking at the opening ceremony of the first edition of the Cidade da China Furniture Fair, taking place from 24 October to 24 November in the municipality of Viana, on the outskirts of Luanda, stressed that Angola must change from being an importing country to become an exporting country, with a view to reducing the foreign exchange expenditure related to buying food and other goods abroad.
Cidade da China chairman Jack Huang said Angola is accelerating the process of diversification of its economy, especially industrial development, adding that China’s 40-year experience of reform and opening up could be a model for that process.
Twelve exhibitors will attend the first edition of the Cidade da China Furniture Fair, which was attended by the Chinese ambassador to Angola, Gong Tao.
Cidade da China has a residential area with 29 buildings and a commercial area with 16 areas, which house more than 400 stores, where various products are sold, including building and decoration materials, household items, car accessories, clothes, shoes and party gifts.
