Chui Sai On will be received in an audience by President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and later by Prime Minister António Costa, with whom he “will exchange ideas about the consolidation of friendly relations between Macau and Portugal and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation.”
The Chief Executive will also co-chair the 6th meeting of the Macau-Portugal Joint Commission with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Augusto Santos Silva, to promote collaboration in various fields.
The city of Lisbon will also be the stage for a photographic exhibition commemorating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macau Special Administrative Region (Macau SAR).
Once the Lisbon part of the schedule has been completed, the Chief Executive will visit the city of Porto, where he will sign a memorandum of understanding for the cooperation framework to promote friendship.
In an interview with Portuguese news agency Lusa, Chui Sai On said, “Given the experience of the past 20 years, the Portuguese community should have greater confidence in Macau’s development prospects.”
The Chief Executive also said in the written statements that, “reality justifies the maintenance of the capitalist system and the way of life that previously existed in Macau.”
