Local bank BNU has indicated that the solidarity account set to raise funds to assist Portugal in efforts to contain the Covid-19 pandemic will be extended until April 7, with some MOP1.5 million (US$187,869) raised so far.

‘The Macau Solidarity Commission thanks everyone for their collaboration in this campaign […] due to the celebrations of the Ching Ming holiday and interruption of several services, including banks, next Monday, it was decided to extend this initiative until the end of April 7,’ it was revealed by the organisers of the aid effort.


The COVID 19 Solidariedade Portugal MOP account 9016556516 will then remain open until that date.


The Macau Solidarity Commission unites more than two dozen Macau-based Portuguese associations and entities, and has the institutional support of the Consulate General of Portugal in Macau and Hong Kong, AICEP – Portugal Trade and Investment Agency, IPOR- Instituto Português do Oriente and BNU- Banco Nacional Ultramarino.
