Why Madeira?

 

√  The Madeira archipelago is made up of the folloiwng islands, Porto Santo,

     Desertas (three uninhabited Islands: Deserta Grande, Bugio and Ilhéu Chão) and

     the Nature Reserve of Selvagens.

 

√  Madeira has a land area of 801 km2 and a coastline of 402 km.

√  The south coast of the island has the largest number of Madeira’s inhabitants,

     especially the city of Funchal (40% of total population). The population in the rest

     of the territory is dispersed and fragmented.

 

√  Environmental infrastructures have been improved, such as drainage and

     wastewater treatment services and solid waste collection and treatment services.

 

√  Strong public investment in network infrastructures (road network, Madeira airport

     and maritime ports).
