Portuguese cork is present in FIFA´s World Cup 2010
Lisbon, June 22, 2010. Cape Town Stadium uses Portuguese cork to ensure comfort to its VIP guests. The sub floor AcoustiCORK cork, from Amorim Cork Composites, was the material selected for the VIP area of the building, having been applied on a total area of 4000 m2.
Sub floors AcoustiCORK ensure high levels of acoustic and thermal insulation that were determinant for the choice of South African authorities organizing the 2010 World Cup.
Cape Town Stadium is the soccer field were Portuguese National team made history by beating North Korea in the 2010 World Cup by 7-0.

Portuguese cork in Mars
Lisbon, February 27, 2010. When the European Space Agency launches the first European mission to Mars, in 2018, the Portuguese cork will be present. Amorim Cork Composites Unit, a part of Amorim Group, is one of the 18 companies involved in the consortium developing the European spacecraft.
Amorim Cork Composites is due to find a new material that ensures the right conditions for the thermal ablation - technically known as end protection system.
Since the 60's, Amorim integrates the supply chain of the aerospace industry. Although not selling directly to NASA, its articles are present in vessels such as the Apollo, Ariane and the Space Shuttle, among others.
