Ø  Portugal entered the Top 20 major economies of the optic fiber market 

In 2009, the country exceeded 40 thousand homes connected and 1.1 million houses passed gathering the conditions to enter this ranking. The announcement to the Portuguese Press was made by Karel Helfen, President of FTTH Council Europe. FTTH will hold its 7th conference fiber-to-the-home on the 24th and 25th of February in Lisbon.

Renault-Nissan Alliance announced the city of Aveiro as the location to host the planned battery production site in Portugal. The new facility represents an investment of € 160 million and will create 200 new jobs.Read more.

Portugal moves up 3 places in the IMD World Competitiveness Scorebored and is now ranked in the 34th position in the context of 57 economies analyzed by IMD World Competitiveness Center. See the full ranking.

 

Ø   Eurostat, Portuguese GDP rises 0,9% in Q3       

Portugal and Austria had the second best increase in GDP in the euro area in the third quarter. Eurostat estimates that both Portugal and Austria had an increase of 0.9 % in GDP compared with previous quarter. See Eurostat release.
