Portugal at Expo Shanghai
Portugal will be present, from 1 May to 31 October, in Shanghai Expo 2010. The theme of the Portuguese participation is “Portugal, a square for the World and Portugal, a World Energy". A theme that emerges by the uniqueness and ability to assert Portuguese national identity.
China is now the engine of world economy with a growth forecast for this year of around 9.6% and has increased its importance in the context of trade relations with Portugal. China went up 11 places as a client of Portuguese exports between 2008 and 2009.
Shanghai, host city of World Expo and the second largest Chinese city, is a remarkable case of China's economic development and provides an opportunity for Portuguese companies. Therefore the importance and commitment of the Portuguese participation in this World Expo with a Pavilion of excellence.
